Why an electronic piano? Well, when I was in high school, music was a huge part of my life, and it's something that's still really important to me. With this project, my hope is to try to use my technical skills to recreate the "magic" of music.

Design and Theory

The instrument itself will be made up of 12 3D printed keys. IR sensors will monitor the keys and report to the processor on the position of the keys. By taking that data, some quick calculations can be done to decide whether or not the key is being pressed, as well as how fast it is pressed. This way, I hope to produce a quieter or louder sound based on how hard the key has been pressed.
